Well, it’s been a while. After being quiet for a couple of weeks I felt like I should come back with something profound and worth waiting for. All I did was prolong the inevitable return because now I’m here with just some basic post I’ve been overthinking for a couple of weeks.
I seem to repeat a lot of the same theme here but I guess that’s part of the point. I’m here to share my experiences and hope you take something away that can help you in your own life.
One saying I came across that sparked a little something in what’s become a pretty mundane time said: DON’T TRIP OVER WHAT’S BEHIND YOU. That really resonated with me and a lot of what I have said here.
We all have our own history. We likely all have something in our past that has helped to mold who and where we are today. A lot of times, the instances that drive us the most were not so great at the time.
You’ve likely been through some shit, as they say, (or I say anyway), but what you do with that will shape so much of your life from that moment on. Maybe it’s something so terrible that you don’t think you can go on. Well, guess what? If you reading this, you did move on, you made it! Good for you! But also, have you really moved on or are you still dwelling on the past?
You know what the fun thing about your past is? It already happened! You don’t need to worry about it anymore. It’s over, it’s done, and even if you’re still ‘stuck’ with the fallout, you have the option to still live your best life. That part is up to you.
I’ve spent a lot of time browsing social media lately, even more so on sites for people ‘like me’ with disabilities and similar issues and I’ll tell you what - we do not all try to live our best life. There are people that are pretty fucking miserable - even to the point of wishing they had died. It’s so sad.
See, we went through the same thing, but had a totally different outcome. Why? Because (something else I saw recently):
PAIN IS INEVITABLE ~ SUFFERING IS OPTIONAL
Every day you have the choice to live your life how YOU want. You can live in the past and dwell on the awful things you’ve been through. You can pretend you’re stuck or trapped or whatever it is you want to tell yourself. You can also leave the past behind and use it to push you forward toward something else. Use it as a lesson. Let it challenge you and ignite your fire to be something better.
You have one life. LIVE IT. Don’t trip over what’s behind you when you have the ability and the power to move forward. Eh, maybe you’ll trip again but at least it will be over something in front of you while you’re moving in the right direction.
