Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes

If you know me, you probably know that one of my favorite mantras is “nothing changes if nothing changes”. You most definitely know that one of my biggest pet peeves is repeatedly complaining about the same things and doing nothing to change them. You would know this because I will be the first to tell you when you do it. And If you don’t know, now ya know...

Do my friends get annoyed with this? Probably, but they stick around anyway. It’s part of my charm. Do you know what’s even more irritating than me telling them that? Hearing the same shit on repeat.

Listen, I will admittedly listen to the same song on repeat but not because it makes me angry- because it brings a smile to my face and I sing like a fucking angel (As long as no one is listening). Repetition is okay if it’s done in a positive way or propelling you forward.

It’s the feeling of being “stuck” that’s the problem. It’s believing we have no other option. It’s not being able to see that you have a choice and can make a change.

We all have bad days. Shit happens and we have the right to be mad or upset and talk about it- but only for so long. At some point you have to take some kind of action towards improvement otherwise please, shut up.

YOU HAVE CHOICES! You can absolutely make a change. If the problem is something you actually cannot change- ya know, like losing your ability to walk or something, YOU CAN CHANGE HOW YOU REACT TO IT.

We are always given choices whether we believe this to be true or not. Like I said (Stole from someone else) yesterday: PAIN IS INEVITABLE, SUFFERING IS OPTIONAL... or something like that. You get the point.

If for some reason you can’t change your circumstances, change your behaviors. Change your attitude. Do whatever creative things you can think of to FLIP THE SCRIPT.

Most importantly, stop complaining about the same bullshit. All you’re doing is making it last longer and making your situation worse. Focus on moving forward. Figure out how to proceed in another direction instead of getting stuck in a repetitive cycle of your own creation.

NOTHING CHANGES IF NOTHING CHANGES.
